The SUMAIT Fellowship 2026 is a six-month internship programme designed to help final-year university students and recent graduates in Mogadishu, Somalia gain practical workplace experience and develop the professional skills needed to confidently enter the employment market.
The programme provides selected fellows with the opportunity to move beyond academic learning and experience a professional working environment through supervised, hands-on internships. The SUMAIT Fellowship 2026 is completely free for selected fellows, providing an opportunity for young Somali professionals to gain valuable experience without the financial burden of an internship programme.
A Pathway from Education to Professional Experience

Smart Operations & Data Management
Fellows will gain exposure to operational processes, data management, organizational systems, and the use of information to support effective decision-making and workplace operations.

Customer Experience & Engagement

Months 1–5: Practical Internship Experience
The first five months of the SUMAIT Fellowship will focus primarily on practical workplace experience and professional exposure.
During this period, fellows will participate in supervised internships within their assigned areas. They will have opportunities to:

SUMAIT Fellowship Certificate
Successful completion of the six-month programme will be an important milestone for every fellow.
Upon completion, fellows will receive a SUMAIT Fellowship Certificate, providing formal recognition of their participation and completion of the programme.
Eligible fellows will also receive a Professional Recommendation Letter, which can support their future academic and career applications.
The certificate and recommendation letter are intended to help fellows document their professional development and demonstrate their internship experience when applying for future opportunities.
