On December 17, 2025, Dr. Sumait Hospital, in partnership with DirectAid, officially launched Phase II of the Free Eye Care Campaign. This initiative aims to provide free eye surgeries and essential eye care services to underprivileged individuals suffering from visual impairment.

ons of the country, including Galgacyo and Guriceel. This expansion is designed to ensure that vulnerable communities in remote and underserved areas gain access to quality eye healthcare that is often unavailable or unaffordable.
The official launch ceremony was inaugurated by Cali Faa’id, Director of Hospital Administration at Dr. Sumait Hospital. In his remarks, he emphasized the hospital’s commitment to delivering accessible and sustainable healthcare services, particularly for marginalized populations.
The event was formally concluded by Mohamed Sh. Bashir, Deputy Director of DirectAid Somalia, who commended Dr. Sumait Hospital for its continued dedication to humanitarian healthcare initiatives. He also encouraged the strengthening of collaborative efforts to further enhance medical and humanitarian services across the country.
