Dr. Sumait Hospitals has officially launched a diphtheria vaccination awareness campaign, beginning today with a visit to Imamu Shafici School. The initiative aims to educate students and parents about the serious risks of diphtheria and the critical role vaccination plays in protecting children’s health.
During the awareness session, health professionals emphasized that diphtheria remains a major public health concern. This year alone, more than 1,300 children have been diagnosed with the disease, and tragically, over 70 children have lost their lives. These alarming figures highlight the urgent need for timely and complete vaccination.
In line with guidance from the Ministry of Health – Somalia, parents were strongly encouraged to ensure their children receive the diphtheria vaccine. Health experts stressed that even children who have been previously vaccinated should take this dose to achieve full and effective protection.
Dr. Sumait Hospitals remains committed to supporting national health efforts by engaging communities, schools, and families to promote disease prevention and child wellbeing.
Protect your children today vaccination saves lives.
